Investing In Tools, Features; Expanding Creator Base: MojShareChat’s short-video application on Thursday said it is investing in new tools for helping content developers and engage audiences around the country. Moj made Play Store debut on July 1, only two days when the Indian government banned 59 applications that linked China, which include TikTok.

The Co-Founder and COO of ShareChat, Farid Ahsan, said, “The applications were developed in 30 hours by our teams and just in a short time, we had 50 million downloads.”

He also stated that Moj has around 2.8+ million users that create around 2.5 lakh new videos every day. The total time of video consumption is 3.4 billion minutes of video play in the very first month.

He said, “We are now investing in providing creators more tools to help them create engaging content. We are investing in grooming them, putting them in touch with global creators to grow further.”

Not declaring the budget, Ahsan told that the situation is dynamic and the company is set to make necessary investments. He said the company enthralls its focus on developing and increasing the creator ecosystem on the platform, which is powered by technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Moj is set for encouraging and developing high-quality creator talent on the platform through workshops and training.

Moj has a huge user-base from the top 10 Indian cities.

He stated that Moj is set to commence monetization efforts from the next month, and also help creators engage with brands. The company is discussing the various labels of its library expansion and looking to hire staff while expanding the operations.

He said "ShareChat had laid off staff as the pandemic brought in challenges. However, we brought back 50 percent of those overnight as we started working on Moj.”

The Homegrown applications like ShareChat, Roposo, and Chingari has witnessed significant growth in downloads and user signups on their platforms when the government banned a number of applications with Chinese linkages.

With 400+ million registered users and 130+ million monthly active users, ShareChat has 15 Indian languages and 50 million monthly active users.
